Workshop Details:
In this beginner-friendly clay hand building workshop, you’ll create and decorate your own holiday ornaments! Participants can expect to make 3-5, and they'll be fired and ready for pick-up within three weeks - just in time for Christmas.
Near the latter end of the workshop, once our ornaments have dried a bit, we will have time to decorate them with underglaze. I have great colour options to choose from. Then, I’ll take care of the final, clear glaze that’ll finish off your ornaments. I will fire your pieces for you, and they’ll be ready for pick up three weeks after the workshop takes place. You get to select a ribbon colour, too. :)
If you’d like to email me to brainstorm some ideas before you come, or to ask any questions, please feel free! I have lots of ideas to share. Searching images on Pinterest and Instagram can help you come up with some inspiration ahead of time, but that's not necessary either.
Workshops are limited to 12 participants. If you would like to book a private event, please get in touch! I’d love to talk to you about this further.
Some additional fineprint:
Workshop spaces are non-refundable. However, they are transferable. So if you can find a friend to take your place, we can work something out. Please just contact me ahead of time.
Due to the unpredictable nature of ceramics, I cannot be held responsible for the outcome or appearance of your piece(s). I will do my best to guide you to create something successful, and I will take great care with your work when it comes home with me. However, ceramics are finicky - and cracks and unexpected glaze colours can still happen. If this happens, unfortunately I cannot offer a refund - but hopefully you will still love your piece, however (im)perfect.
A bit more about Carmyn and a note on pricing:
Hello! So nice to meet you. I’m Carmyn (she/her) and I live in the Strathearn neighbourhood. I have been teaching in various capacities for 8+ years, and making my own handbuilt ceramics for close to three. I love to facilitate opportunities for creativity, and I have a laid-back personality and fun approach to teaching.
Why $100? Each piece spends a whopping 48 hours in a kiln! This adds up, in terms of equipment use, time, and electricity bills. While clay is an inexpensive medium, glaze IS expensive. Plus, I need to rent the hall, do admin work, and pay for a bunch of other little things that really add up along the way. Hope that helps bring some transparency to the price. <3
